VIR Complete

Hey everyone! We just finished the second weekend at Virginia International Raceway. The first weekend was in June. Back then my best lap time was a 1:53.6. The best lap time this weekend was a 1:50.2. This was the bright spot in the weekend as my race finishes (9th and 5th) were sort of a sore spot. In both cases I could have finished better if I had not made mistakes that cost me position.

I haven’t seen the points standings yet, but I expect I still have a little bit of lead in Lightweight Formula 40. However, I do not expect that I have retained second place in GT Lights. Oh well. It sure is fun.

I had a great time hanging out with Tim Ivanoff and Joel Spalding this weekend. And although the consistency I need to finish better in races has not yet come, I found this weekend in particular I was between two and four seconds slower than fastest in class rather than eight seconds, as has been the case here in the past.

Next weekend is a Twin Sprint weekend at JenningsGP and the last regular regional event of the year. I’ll be there and we’ll see then for sure whether I can take the 2011 LWF40 Championship.

It will be my first run at Jennings, so I don’t expect to be very fast. But we’ll see. At this point we are only 3 weeks out from my first race at Daytona which is pretty exciting.
